About

Pocket Verdict started as a shared notes file between three friends who kept recommending games to each other. At some point the list got so long that we figured other people might find it useful too, so we cleaned it up and put it online.

We're a tiny editorial team. Nobody here works for a studio, and nobody hands us a review to publish. We pick games ourselves, mostly from the charts and from tips readers send us, and we play them properly — long enough to hit the parts that get grindy or repetitive.,A game only gets a written review once someone on the team has spent real time with it. That means finishing the tutorial, getting past the honeymoon phase, and seeing how it holds up when the novelty wears off. If a game bores us after an hour, we say so.,We cover every genre because our own tastes are all over the place. One of us lives inside turn-based strategy, another only opens the phone for quick arcade runs on the train. That mix keeps the site from becoming one long love letter to a single kind of game.

Marek Nowak — Marek has been reviewing games for over a decade and still gets genuinely annoyed by bad menu design. He plays mostly strategy and RPGs but will try anything once.
