When atmosphere beats challenge
There's a whole category of games I love that most people would call 'not very hard,' and I think that framing misses the point. Hollow Lantern is the example on my mind — its puzzles are gentle, but the experience stayed with me longer than most tough games do.
These games trade difficulty for mood. The reward isn't beating a boss; it's the slow reveal of a world, a piece of music hitting at the right moment, or a quiet realisation about the story. Playing them with headphones in a dark room is not a joke, it genuinely changes the experience.
I think there's room in everyone's library for a game like this. When I'm tired and don't want to be tested, an atmospheric adventure is exactly right. It asks for attention, not skill.
If you've only played competitive or challenge-heavy games, give one of these a chance. Go in expecting a mood piece, not a gauntlet, and you'll likely come out surprised.
